‘Round the World for Reilly
March 15, 2020

‘Round the World for Reilly is the main fundraising and awareness building event for The Smiley Reilly Project. In 2016, an invitation was put out to a small network of friends to join a fun run in Melbourne to honour Reilly, the son of Raquel and Jonathan Hall, lost to SIDS in February 2015. Within two weeks, people from all corners of the globe made a pledge to participate in a fun run to be held in their own part of the world on the same day. Around 600 people took part, encompassing 67 different locations across 17 countries, making this a truly global event.

This year on Sunday 15 March, the ‘Round the World for Reilly event hopes to involve even more people in as many different locations as possible to walk, run, stagger, ski, cycle and stroll in memory of Reilly. Whilst the day is aimed at being one of remembrance, we also want it to provide people with an opportunity to reconnect with friends and family in a day of fun, love, sunshine and laughter, no matter where or how far the walk takes you.

‘Round the World for Reilly is also the main fundraising event for The Smiley Reilly Project. While there is no cost associated with participating in the event, we hope that people will prefer to make a donation in lieu of their entry fee. All monies raised will go to The Smiley Reilly Project, whose aim is to provide support to families who have experienced the loss of a child. Donations can be made whilst completing the online registration form, or here on our website.

We have a number of ‘Round the World for Reilly events already organised at a number of central locations in both Australia and New Zealand, or alternatively you can register your own event wherever you are. By registering your team, be it made up of you, the dog and the kids, or a group of friends or work colleagues, we can easily track how many participants and locations are represented on the day. For more details take a look at our RTW4R Facebook event page or click here to register.

If you are taking part on March 15th, we’d love to see your photos on the day, which can be posted on our facebook page.
